Caribou, Newfoundland and Labrador

Thanks for the positive comments about yesterday's caribou photos. As promised, I am sending a few more today. In the wider angle photos, the white dots all along the barrens are caribou. These photos were taken near Cape Pine Lighthouse, in fact the first two were taken from the top of the lighthouse. That's why they appear to be aerial views.

The third image also shows quite a few caribou taken looking the opposite direction the same day. I sent these images to give you an idea about how large the herd was just a few years ago. The photos were taken in the mid 1990s.

The 4th photo shows a few caribou that started to run as I approached them That day, I had 3 kids with me and they were amazed ... as one of them said... "It was like being on a wildlife show". The young boy later became a wildlife biologist.
