Spinning Wool

After photographing the process of making butter in the main house of Ross Farm, I wandered through the various rooms photographing antiques, one of which was a spinning wheel. Moments later one of the ladies started showing several young families how they used to make wool years ago.

First she separated some sheep's wool by hand, then used two tools to card the wool. The second photo shows motion - I knew that by lowering the ISO, the camera would choose slower shutter speeds which would allow me to show motion by blurring the hands. I made several images like this, but this was the most effective. The spinning wool in the third photo is the only thing showing movement in the image. The last photo shows a young girl learning how to hold the wool as it is being spun.
