Burin Peninsula 8

Burin Peninsula 8

As promised, I am sharing a couple more images of houses in the Town of Grand Bank. The large red house in the first image was for sale when we drove through in mid-July. I checked on line and this is a B & B called Inn by the Sea and is listed for $250,000. It is a large house and there are photos of the inside on line if anyone is interested. The second house is much smaller but it looks very nice from the outside.

We walked along the waterfront and photographed the buildings, many of which have fallen into a state of disrepair. This was once a thriving area of the Burin Peninsula, but these days there doesn't seem to be much happening there. We spoke to one man who pointed out a couple of buildings that he felt should be torn down because they are dangerous. It is sad that parts of many towns are doing poorly because of the decimation of the cod stocks in the waters around Newfoundland and Labrador. These days many people in the rural areas of the province commute to Alberta to find work, but recently many of those opportunities have disappeared. I've uploaded a couple more images from the waterfront this morning.

Photos of the Day are for sale as stock photographs
and photographic enlargements.
They can also be purchased as slide shows
and/or wallpapers/screensavers.
