Twillingate Icebergs 2

Twillingate Icebergs 2

Icebergs Everywhere!! That's how we felt while driving around Twillingate on July 2, 2014.  Every little inlet and bay seemed to be full of icebergs, many of them that were quite large.  Today's photos will give you an idea of how many there were near the Long Point Lighthouse.

I read on line that the reason for such large numbers of icebergs this year is because a piece of ice measuring 260 square kilometers broke off a glacier in Greenland last August and it has been breaking apart ever since creating thousands of icebergs.  Tourists are loving the spectacular display of ice migrating down the coasts of Newfoundland and Labrador.
