Winter 9 - Seals

I remember the first time I saw a seal on an ice in Holyrood.  It was the first time I had seen a live seal and I was surprised that it looked like a blob on the ice.  In recent years, however, I've had many chances to photograph seals that had climbed onto the ice to sun themselves. 


They are skittish animals and head for open water when someone approaches.  On a few occasions, the water had frozen over and the seals couldn't find a spot to get back into the water which gave me the opportunity to make more images.
