Sunrises 3

Sunrises 3

Today’s photos were taken during a sunrise over a foggy Humber River in Deer Lake, Newfoundland and Labrador.

I made the photos from a bridge over the river and was able to look directly at the rising sun through the thick fog.

Sunrises 2

Sunrises 2

When I photograph sunrises I am reminded of the beauty of early morning.  Today’s photos were taken in Holyrood and Deer Lake.  The mist rising off the Humber River helped diffuse the light from the rising sun adding to the beauty.

Sunrises

Sunrises

Thanks for the positive feedback on the minimalist / abstract photos I shared over the past 4 days.  This is a genre of photos I enjoy making and will return to it from time to time.

Today I am sharing photos of Sunrises that were scanned from slides.  As those of you who have followed me for several years already know, I enjoy getting up early and making photos of the early morning sky.  It is a time of peace and beauty, things we need in our busy lives.

Minimalist 4

Minimalist 4

This is Day 4 of my current Minimalist series.

Over the period of 13 years of sharing photos on my Photo of the Day, I have often shared what I called Abstract images.  Recently, I joined a public Facebook Group called Minimalist Photography.  This group defines minimalist photography as follows:

Minimalism. A work, be it art, photography, music or architecture, the strength of which is measured by how it can be stripped to the bare essentials leaving what remains to generate a most powerful visual impact.
Over the next few days I plan to share photos that I have submitted to this group.  Feel free to comment on these images because I’d like to know how many people like them.
