Rosette Spoonbill

Rosette Spoonbill

The rosette spoonbill is a beautiful bird found in southern Florida and further south to South America. The All About Birds website describes it as follows:

"A bizarre wading bird of the southern coasts, the Roseate Spoonbill uses its odd bill to strain small food items out of the water. Its bright pink coloring leads many Florida tourists to think they have seen a flamingo."

I tried to photograph it with its wings wide open because it really shows the pink colour.

This will be the last in the current Flowers Series.  I hope you have enjoyed the colours of summer.  The next series will probably be the tulips in my yard when they bloom later in the Spring.

Flowers 4

Tonight I am sharing more images of flowers that are sure to show the beauty of the means that plants use to help reproduce.  Their intention is to attract insects which will move pollen from flower to flowers to ensure that the plant produces seeds that will continue the variety of the plant.
