Gray Jays 2

Gray  Jays 2

It was only last year that we made an effort to make friends with the gray jays around here.  They weren't really nervous around us, but they would fly away and wait for us to go, then come for any food we left behind.  We decided that every time we sat outside, we would bring food.  When we go in, we take the food with us.  The gray jays are pretty smart and after a couple of times, they flew in for the food while we were there.  Every time a bird picked up a bit of food, we would say, "Hey,  birdie".  It didn't take too long for them to come when we call, "Hey, birdie."

Of course, others have figured out that "Hey, birdie."  means food.  Blue jays and crows will also show up if they hear us.  Even the cat next door comes running, though I am not sure if it's because of the food, or she knows there will be birds around.

Feel free to share with family and friends.
